This year's Victorian State Budget confirmed funding for the construction of the future Burnside Primary School within the Modeina estate. Funding for the 2017/18 year amounts to $2.66 million, with the balance of $11.14 million to be allocated to the 2018/19 year when construction of the school would be completed.

The 3.5-hectare site for the school is situated on the eastern side of Lexington Drive, adjacent to the Community Centre. The Dennis Family Corporation is presently finalising contractual terms to transfer ownership of site to the Victorian School Building Authority, with the objective of settling the necessary arrangements before the end of September this year. 

The VSBA has appointed architects to design the school. More details will be provided when plans are approved and finalised.
