Members of the Caroline Springs Tennis Club are benefiting from the use of four brand new modern design score boards purchased directly through a grant provided by last year’s Modeina Community Fund.

The Caroline Springs Tennis Club has a very diverse, multicultural membership base comprised of members across the community in surrounding areas.

Located at the Caroline Springs Leisure Centre, the Club’s facilities include seven courts for member access.

Bookings can be made from 7am to 10pm at night for up to two-hour blocks up to two days in advance, pending court availability.

Current President, Roma Grant, has enjoyed an involvement with the Club for the past five years through having three children participating as players.

She took on the challenge of leading the Club upon joining the Committee in 2023 following the retirement of the previous long-serving President.

Roma explains why the Club is hitting plenty of winners on and off the court.

What role does your Club play in the local community?

The Club provides a healthy, sporting environment to help members stay fit and active and improve their tennis skills through competitions, coaching and informal games.

We are staffed by volunteers who work really hard to ensure a fun and family friendly culture, so that people of all ages and skill levels feel welcome and hove a great experience.

We host WRTA competition and Tennis Victoria competition for Juniors, NSNTA adult competition and have coaching services provided through the iTennis Coaching Academy.

The Club has steadily increased membership (along with interest and participation levels) over the years, with our Saturday junior competition fully subscribed.

We have seen our junior players evolve their tennis skills further and gain valuable lessons through their participation in tennis competition.

What have been some of your highlights of 2025?

Our player registrations have increased this year, and competition entries have continued to grow.

Recent happenings of note include several of our teams qualifying for semi-finals and finals in competition, a revamped social media presence and new families joining the Caroline Springs Tennis Club community. We are continuing to see high demand for tennis coaching services.

The Club participated in “Melton City Girls Can” which was a Melton Council run initiative to increase women’s participation in sport and other extracurricular events.  In conjunction with iTennis, we ran a women’s cardio tennis event which was very popular.

We recently have conducted continued maintenance works on five of our Club courts to replace nets and maintain standards. Two of our remaining Club courts are currently undergoing maintenance.

Any other exciting plans on the horizon?

We’re planning a Club Competition Day in late 2025 or early 2026, and it’s all about showing our appreciation to our amazing members!

This family-friendly event will feature our Club Championship, where members can compete against each other in a fun and competitive format.

The Club Championship is a prestigious title awarded to the top players in our club, and we’re excited to see who’ll take home the trophy.

We’ll have opportunities for players of all levels to participate.

There will continue to be Tennis Victoria tournament events throughout the year, which will see players from other areas compete on our Club courts.

We are looking to get involved in Pennant Competition on Sundays to provide progression pathways for more senior and/or advanced players.

We are also investigating options for social tennis for our members, once maintenance works on all courts have been completed.

How beneficial have the scoreboards purchased with the 2024 Modeina Community Fund grant funding been to your Club?

The four new, premium competition scoreboards replaced our older “flip card” system which was extremely worn and overdue for change.

The new scoreboards look great and have enhanced the overall player and spectator experience through improved match scoring visibility and engagement during competition.

Opposing teams often comment on the scoreboards and high standard of amenities at our Club, which we strive to maintain to ensure a positive membership, player and family experience for our communities in Caroline Springs, Burnside and surrounding areas.

We will also be procuring three other competition scoreboards through a separate Volunteer Grant funded through the office of Alice Jordan-Baird (Member for Gorton division), which we were successful in obtaining.

This will ensure all our Club courts will have the same facilities.
